Something Old, Something New

July 2, 2013 By Kathy Radigan

Back in the fall of 2011 I had the fun of going to my first blogging conference. BlogHer offered a one day writers workshop right in my own backyard. One hour on the train and I was in a NYC hotel ballroom meeting some amazing women and learning about the various aspects of writing and publishing.

Hillary and I immediately hit it off and I was thrilled to find out that we were in the same small group workshop for writers interested in writing non-fiction.  Our mentor was a publisher from Penguin who had us each give a brief pitch about our blogs and/or idea for a book.

Hillary spoke about her idea of writing a book about dating and eventually marrying a man that was commitment phobic. I remember her saying that what made her story a little different was that it was her husbands friends that were pushing him towards the altar much more than it was her. She had us all laughing about her experience and we had all agreed that it sounded like it would be a fun read.

Well a year and a half year later I’m thrilled and excited to report that Hillary wrote the book and is in the process of shopping it around to agents.  Her “baby” Dangled Carat has it’s own website now and I have the good fortune of guest posting there today with an essay I posted here last March about what happens after you say, “ I do. “

You can read it here, Dangled Carat and then you can check out her site and see for yourself how great she is!

As always I thank you for your ongoing support of me and my crazed appliance! Wishing you all a happy and safe Fourth of July! I will see you back here on Sunday.

(If you haven’t had a chance to read my latest essay, When Mom Learns to Grow Up, please check it out. Thanks!)
